Hornchurch House Refurbishment and Extension

A full refurbishment of a semi-detached house in Hornchurch, replacing an old conservatory with a new single-storey rear extension on new foundations, with a steel frame and roof lantern.

The project

Hornchurch refurbishment and extension

  • Project: Full house refurbishment with rear extension
  • Our role: Structural design, groundworks, build and fit-out
  • Structural works: Steel frame, new rear opening and roof lantern
  • Groundworks: Demolition, trench excavation and concrete foundations
  • Area: Hornchurch, Havering

We took down the old conservatory and broke out the existing ground, then dug and shuttered new trench foundations and poured the concrete. On top of those we built the blockwork, set the ground floor slab and installed a steel frame to carry the roof across the full width of the house.

With the shell weathertight and rendered, the whole house was refurbished. The extension now holds a bespoke shaker kitchen with a quartz island, dining and living space, sliding doors to the garden and a roof lantern overhead. The front of the house was re-rendered with new windows and a new front door, and the bedrooms and media room were finished to the same standard.
